Hello Mahesh, I just wanted to let you know that you did a great job on your first portrait. Yes, the tones are difficult to get, but the number one thing I've learned about painting portraits that may help with future attempts is to be sure you have strong values. Just a value shift of about 35 to 40% will give your subject that 3 dimensional look you commented on.
You have already proven that you have wonderful talent with your knife painting, so just carry those same techniques to your portraits and they will be equally successful.
